There are many ways to believe in and worship God, and this variety is reflected in the diversity of educational options at Christian universities and colleges in Canada. Whether interdenominational or run by a specific church (Wesleyan, Anabaptist, Pentecostal, Baptist, etc.), Christian universities and colleges offer competitive three- and four-year undergraduate degrees in a wider range of subjects than you might expect.

Some of the larger Christian universities and colleges offer programs similar to secular institutions, including Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Management (BMgt), Bachelor of Music or Music Therapy (BMus), and Bachelor of Education (BEd) degrees, some concurrent. Within certain degrees, you can choose from numerous majors and minors. For example, within the BA, you can major and minor in English, political science, psychology, geography, sociology, intercultural studies, religion, economics and history among others. Within the BBA, choices include accounting, corporate finance, personal finance, marketing, human resource management, entrepreneurship, international business, leadership and management.

Degrees particular to Christian universities and colleges include Bachelor of Theology (BTh), Bachelor of Ministry (BMin), Bachelor of Religious Education (BRE), Bachelor of Biblical Studies (BBS) and Bachelor of Church Ministry (BChMin). These programs offer options in youth ministry, urban ministry, global ministry, worship arts, development studies, counselling studies, education, social work, aviation and more. Christian universities and colleges may also offer two-year Associate of Arts (AA) degrees, as well as pre-professional study in a number of areas, such as agriculture, law, medicine, nursing and education.

If you’re looking for a purely Christian-focused school without general studies degree options, you might want to consider a smaller Christian college. While some Christian colleges also offer four-year Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA, BSc) degrees, many are specialty schools emphasizing spiritual formation and professional ministry preparation. These colleges therefore tend to focus on Bachelor of Theology (BTh), Ministry (BMin), Religious Education (BRE), Biblical Studies (BBS) and Church Ministry degrees, as well as two-year Associate of Arts (AA) degrees and one- or two-year diploma and certificate programs in various aspects of Christian studies, ministry activities, education and performing arts. Many of these shorter programs allow for credit transfer to certain university programs.

Christian colleges may also offer unique one-year certificate programs that give students non-traditional learning experiences based on Christian values and discipleship. These are designed to combine academics and spiritual enrichment, and often involve outdoor education, travel and study abroad. To help students finance their education, many Christian universities and colleges offer internal scholarships, bursaries and loans as well as government loans and bursaries.
